Regarding the Attraction of Private After-School Care

Recently, there are after-school care facilities with well-equipped amenities such as English programs and extracurricular lessons. These after-school care centers also offer pick-up and drop-off services. We hope that Inagi City will also attract private after-school care facilities.

Response

The city's After-School Childcare Program is implemented as the "After-School Children's Program for Healthy Development," aimed at providing "support for the healthy development, play, and daily life of children" who are not at home during the day due to reasons such as their parent or guardian's employment. This is done after school and during long vacation periods, utilizing dedicated facilities or vacant classrooms in elementary schools. Additionally, considering the safety and convenience of children when arriving at and leaving the After-School Childcare Program, the facilities are planned to be located mainly at or around schools. Traditionally, the program was operated directly by the city, but to meet citizen needs, such as having business operators handle opening hours and snack fee collection, the program has been gradually privatized and outsourced to improve services. However, at this stage, there are no plans to attract private After-School Childcare Programs with diverse functions or to expand the pick-up and drop-off range; these matters will be studied in the future.
