Adjustment of pedestrian crossing times at traffic signals on school routes
A traffic signal was installed at the intersection at the corner of Yaoko Inagi Minamiyama store in February.
This crosswalk is causing congestion at the signal for all students commuting to Minamiyama Elementary School from below Yaoko.
I don't think the volume of car traffic on this road is that high during the morning hours.
Could you extend the pedestrian crossing time, even just during the morning commute hours?
Response
The management of the traffic signals you inquired about is handled by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, which is the traffic management authority.
As a city, we will request the Tama Central Police Station, which oversees Inagi City, to extend the duration of the green signal for pedestrian crossing lights.
