About Organic Fluorine Compounds in Tap Water

There have been reports in some newspapers regarding organic fluorine compounds in tap water.
Regarding organic fluorine compounds in tap water, they were designated as "water quality management target items" on April 1, 2020, with a provisional target value set at "50 ng/L or less for the sum of PFOS and PFOA amounts."
The tap water in Inagi City is currently supplied with purified water from the Higashimurayama Water Purification Plant.
The management of the Higashimurayama Water Purification Plant is conducted by Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and regular inspections are also carried out for organic fluorine compounds.
As of the current inspection results, the levels are significantly below the national water quality management provisional target value (50 nanograms per liter for the total of PFOS and PFOA, where a nanogram is one billionth of a gram), and there is no situation that affects health.
In Inagi City, as of April 1, 2012, all water supply services have been transferred to Tokyo.
