Renewed! Inagi City Library

To further improve services for citizens and users, the city library was renewed and reopened on July 15. Please make full use of the renewed city library.
Expanded Opening Hours

・Extended the opening hours of all city libraries from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
・Aligned the closed days of branch libraries (from the first to the fourth libraries) with the closed days of each Community Center

Changed the Operation of the Central Library
Zoned the Central Library!

The SHIROYAMA EXPERIENCE STUDY INSTITUTE has been integrated into the Central Library, dividing the entire facility into a "Quiet Area" and an "Interaction Area."
Quiet Area: An area with bookshelves where soundproof study rooms have been installed and study/viewing seats have been expanded.
Interaction Area: An area where study seats that allow conversation have been expanded, and spaces where eating and drinking are permitted have been set up.
Increased Study and Reading Seats (Quiet Area)
We have expanded the study and reading seats within the Quiet Area. Additionally, we have set up two soundproof quiet study rooms in the Quiet Area. These are special study rooms where talking is strictly prohibited. They are available to those who have a library card. You can use them for up to 3 hours (continuous use is possible if no one is waiting). Please make good use of them.
Supporting Examinees! (Quiet Area)
Within the quiet area, we have established a new corner called the "Reference Books and Practice Problems Corner Used by Seniors Who Studied at the Central Library," where you can browse study reference books and qualification exam reference books donated mainly by those who used the Central Library for studying.
There are many people studying inside the Central Library. After exams, reference books and problem sets that are no longer needed tend to be discarded. This initiative will continue, with plans to update and refresh the corner, so why not donate your unwanted reference books and problem sets for the benefit of future students? We look forward to your donations (those who donate will receive a 50 yen discount coupon called the "Shurokko Coupon" for the Schlossberg café inside the Central Library. If you would like a coupon, please ask at the library counter).
・This initiative has been featured in the National Diet Library Current Awareness Portal!
This initiative has been featured in the National Diet Library Current Awareness Portal, which showcases pioneering and rare efforts from libraries across the country.
Increased Study Seats (Interaction Area)
We have expanded the study seats within the interaction area. Of the four study rooms in the interaction area, two are always open as interaction study rooms free of charge, and two are group study rooms available by reservation. These can be used for studying while conversing or for web meetings, so please make use of them.
Interactive Study Room: Anyone can freely use this space for studying or working. You may use it while having conversations.
Group Study Room: A study room available for two or more people. It is accessible to those who have a library user card. You can use it for up to 3 hours (continuous use is possible if no one is waiting).
Expansion of Rest Areas! (Interaction Area, Connecting Passage)
High chairs and high tables have been newly introduced inside the workshop in the interaction area. From noon to 2 p.m., the workshop is designated as "Mogu Mogu Time," allowing eating and drinking, and is open free of charge every day.
Also, the connecting passageway is always available for eating and drinking, so please use it as a resting area.
We have increased the study and reading seats in the branch libraries (from the First Library to the Fourth Library).
First Library
The open stack shelves, which were previously arranged disorderly, have been reorganized along with the introduction of new fixtures, improving the layout and visibility.
A row of study and reading seats was set up in front of the counter.
Second Library
A group table was placed in the middle of the space near the entrance, and individual desks were introduced further inside.
Third Library
The newly introduced fixtures and existing reading tables coexist in the space near the entrance.
Fourth Library
In the back space, after partially organizing the open shelves, fixtures were introduced to create a more spacious area.
You can now use the library with your smartphone

For a long time, when borrowing materials at the library, it was necessary to show your library card at the counter, but with the update of the library system, the "Library Card" can now also be displayed on smartphones.
This allows for the continued use of the traditional card, but even if you forget your card, you can borrow materials with just a smartphone, eliminating the need to carry the card and improving convenience for citizens and users.
You can now check your borrowing history on your smartphone

You can now view your borrowing history on smartphones and other devices. If you want to easily check your reading history, you can do so from the library system's My Library - Borrowing History (materials you have borrowed). Additionally, with this system update, it is now possible to confirm items not only by text but also by cover images on the material search and borrowing history screens.
In addition to checking your borrowing history on smartphones and other devices, those who want to keep a physical record or cannot use a smartphone can continue to use the "Reading Passbook."
Note: The Reading Passbook is issued free of charge to junior high school students and younger who live, attend kindergarten, or go to school in Inagi City (for high school students and older who wish to obtain one, it is sold at the Central Library for 280 yen).
The library website has been renewed

We have revamped the previously cluttered and hard-to-read website into a simple and easy-to-navigate design. One of the frequently asked questions is about "opening hours," and the site now clearly shows the library's open status at a glance.
In response to frequent feedback such as "It becomes difficult to view on smartphone screens," we have introduced a responsive design.
