There have been a series of news reports about explosion accidents caused by striking a large number of spray cans with a pointed hammer indoors, creating holes for gas release.
Spray cans and similar items are filled with flammable gas, so if they are punctured or disposed of incorrectly, it can lead to accidents such as residential or vehicle fires and damage to machinery, and there is a risk of the processing facility being halted.
To ensure fire prevention and the safety of collection workers, please double-check the Waste and Recycling Calendar before disposing of your waste to confirm that you are sorting it correctly. Items such as spray cans, gas cylinders, and lighters should be completely used up before disposal, or if they cannot be fully used, please dispose of them as is on the monthly "Hazardous Waste" collection day.
If you have any questions about sorting, please contact the Living Environment Division.
