National Instantaneous Warning System (J-Alert)
What is the Nationwide Instantaneous Warning System (J-Alert)?
This is a system that transmits information from the national government (via the Cabinet Secretariat and the Japan Meteorological Agency to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency) regarding situations that require immediate action, such as ballistic missile information and emergency earthquake alerts, and automatically activates the city disaster prevention administrative radio and other systems to instantly convey emergency information from the national government to residents.
Information conveyed by J-Alert
- Emergency Earthquake Alert (Estimated Seismic Intensity of 5 Lower or Higher)
- Special Weather Warnings
- Volcano Eruption Alert (Mount Fuji)
- National Protection Information (Ballistic Missile Information, Large-Scale Terrorism Information, etc.)
Information Transmission Test
Nationwide Information Transmission Test
The national government conducts a nationwide information transmission test to confirm that J-Alerts are functioning properly. This involves sending test information through J-Alerts from the national government, automatically activating the city's disaster prevention administrative radio, and verifying whether information can be communicated to residents.

Note: If it is not possible to carry out the scheduled dates due to disaster response related to natural disasters such as typhoons, it will be conducted on a backup date.
Regular Information Transmission Test
To regularly confirm that information transmission via J-Alert is functioning properly, we manually activate the disaster prevention administrative radio and conduct test broadcasts during the connectivity tests conducted by the national government.
Implementation Date and Time
Every fourth Wednesday of the month at 14:00 (excluding the month of the nationwide information transmission test).
Note: If it cannot be implemented due to disaster response related to natural disasters such as typhoons, it will be canceled.
