About Fake Sites for Furusato Tax Donation Impersonating Local Governments

Recently, malicious fake websites impersonating local government names and pretending to accept donations through the hometown tax payment system have been found nationwide.
There have already been cases where cash was transferred, but the thank-you gifts did not arrive.
If you are making a donation through a hometown tax payment site you have never used before, or if you feel suspicious, please be sure to verify before applying and be cautious of malicious fraud.

Characteristics of Fake Websites

• Promoting special prices, such as displaying significant discounts from the regular price
• There is no information such as the municipality's address, contact details, or email address.
• Images of thank-you gifts used on the hometown tax donation site are being reproduced to impersonate the real site.
• If the payment method is bank transfer, the account holder's name is either an individual's name or a company name.

The above is just an example.
There are also cases where they impersonate legitimate sites using sophisticated methods, so please be very careful when entering personal information or making credit card payments.
