About Swimming Pool Lessons for Elementary School Students in Inagi City
My child is enrolled at Inagi Dai 6 Elementary School.
I have written to express my concern about the recent decrease in the number of swimming lessons due to temperature changes.
Last year, my child developed otitis media and was only able to participate in pool lessons twice.
Drowning situations can be life-threatening depending on the circumstances, so we believe pool lessons are very important.
Based on the above, would it be possible to increase pool lessons by using external outsourcing, etc.?
Could you create an environment where pool lessons can be taken throughout the year even without outsourcing, and also increase the number of pool lesson sessions?
I hope that children growing up in Inagi City can grow up healthy, and when they become adults, they won't say things like, "I hardly got to use the pool when I was in elementary school." I kindly ask for your consideration to prevent such situations.
Response
Swimming instruction is recognized as an important educational activity for the children of Inagi City. Upon confirmation with the Board of Education, it has been reported that Inagi Dai 6 Elementary School conducted 10 hours of swimming instruction for all grades in both the 2024 and 2025 school years.
Regarding the proposed outsourcing, it is currently not planned due to concerns such as the need to secure transportation means and travel time between the school and the facility, the potential decline in teachers' instructional skills by outsourcing swimming instruction, the difficulty in properly evaluating students, and the possibility that outsourcing costs may fluctuate depending on the management and operational status of private business operators, making it difficult to continue outsourcing in the future.
