Response

We have received proposals expressing concerns about the future of the city's bus public transportation. Regarding the extension to Wakabadai Station and others following the extension to Shin-Yurigaoka Station on the Yokohama Municipal Subway, this is an issue that requires multifaceted examination, including who will bear the wide-ranging and substantial costs and the profitability of the project based on user forecasts. It goes beyond the scope of plans made by a single city. The establishment and extension of railways fall under the jurisdiction of the Transport Policy Council of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Meanwhile, regarding public bus transportation in Inagi City, due to a severe shortage of drivers and compliance with improvement standard notifications, route buses within the city have been reduced. Currently, the Inagi City Community Bus (i-Bus) is under review for routes and other aspects, with discussions progressing at the Inagi City Regional Public Transportation Council.
Therefore, the city is proceeding with verification through demonstration experiments to introduce new transportation methods using on-demand transportation, mainly in areas where route buses have been significantly reduced since October this year, in order to minimize the impact of service reductions on citizens' daily lives as much as possible.
