QuestionWhat happens to the Municipal Resident Tax and Tokyo Metropolitan Resident Tax that were deducted from my salary if I leave the company?

Response

By having the person in charge of the company or business you were working for submit a change notification to the Taxation Division, Municipal Resident Tax Section, the payment method will switch from payroll deduction to individual payment. After that, a tax payment notice (payment slip) will be sent to your home address from the Taxation Division, Municipal Resident Tax Section, so please make your payment by the due date.
If the Municipal Resident Tax and Tokyo Metropolitan Resident Tax for that fiscal year are collected in a lump sum at the time of retirement, there will be no payment of the Municipal Resident Tax and Tokyo Metropolitan Resident Tax for that fiscal year.
