About the Minami-Tama Station Front Town Opening Ceremony

To commemorate the development around Minami-Tama Station on the JR Nambu Line, the "Minami-Tama Station Front Town Opening Ceremony" was held. The ceremony included the unveiling of the Inagi Nashinosuke Clock Tower and the Yatterman Monument, as well as a talk event featuring Kunio Okawara, the designer of Yatterman, and Hiroshi Yamadera, the voice actor.

"Inagi Nashinosuke Clock Tower" and "Yattawan Monument" Unveiling

In front of Minami-Tama Station, a clock tower of 'Inagi Nashinosuke' (approximately 1.7 meters tall) made with donations from local businesses and organizations, and a monument of 'Yatterwan' from the anime 'Yatterman' (approximately 2.0 meters tall) have been installed, and they were unveiled at the opening ceremony of the Minami-Tama Station front.

In the second part of the ceremony, we held a talk event featuring Mr. Kunio Okawara, who designed the main mecha "Yatterwan" from the anime "Yatterman," and Mr. Koichi Yamadera, who provided the voice. They shared behind-the-scenes stories and discussed the charm of the work. (Host: Anime critic Hiroshi Igarashi)

Kunio Okawara
Born in 1947, from Tokyo. Resident of Inagi City. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University.
Joined Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd. (now known as Tatsunoko Pro) in 1972.
After "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman", he became a specialist in mechanical design.
Free since 1978.
Currently, in addition to animation work, I am actively engaged in car design and receiving offers for figure design from overseas, both domestically and internationally.
Received the Honorary Award at the 2013 Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival.
Representative works include "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman", "Time Bokan Series Yatterman", "Mobile Suit Gundam", "Armored Trooper Votoms", "Brave Exkaiser", "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", "Time Bokan 24", and many others.

Koichi Yamadera
Born in 1961, from Miyagi Prefecture.
Debuted as a voice actor in 1985.
Known for voicing Cheese in the anime "Anpanman", Donald Duck in Disney works, the Genie in "Aladdin", and Ryoji Kaji in "Neon Genesis Evangelion".
In foreign films, many actors such as Jim Carrey, Brad Pitt, and Eddie Murphy are also dubbed.
The children's variety program "Ohasuta" has been hosted for 18 and a half years, becoming a popular morning face for children.

About the Mechanic Designer Kunio Okawara Project

Inagi City, being the birthplace of the renowned mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, is advancing a project to create an attractive city for children and families by installing works that evoke Kunio Okawara's designs within the city and hosting the Mecha Designers Summit. Through this project, Inagi City aims to enhance its appeal, revitalize the community, promote tourism, and increase the number of residents.
