Please be cautious of solicitations for inspections and cleaning of drainage facilities within residential areas.
Recently, there has been an increase in cases where business operators visit homes, seemingly at the request of the city or the Tokyo Sewerage Bureau, to recommend inspections and cleaning of drainage facilities within residential properties.
The drainage facilities within the residential land are privately owned, and the maintenance and management are to be carried out by the owner.
There are some contractors who use expressions like "requested by the City Hall" or "required by law," but inspections and cleaning of drainage facilities within residential areas are not mandated by law, and the city does not outsource such contractors at all.
In the Tama area, there have been incidents where business operators visit and recommend cleaning or repairing drainage facilities, and if refused, they are pressured or coerced into contracts with intimidating or threatening language.
If inspection or cleaning is not necessary, please clearly decline, and if you have any suspicious points, please contact the Sewerage Division of Inagi City.
