Sewage
Household Waste Collection
For households with pit toilets, we conduct pit emptying work once a month.
Areas where sewerage services have been in use for 3 years will be charged starting from the first time, while other areas will be charged starting from the second time each month.
Note: As of April 1, 2020, the sewage treatment fee will be changed to 1,530 yen per occurrence.
Business Waste Collection
For businesses with pit toilets (including temporary toilets), we conduct emptying services by reservation. The fee is 1,020 yen per barrel (36 liters) and is based on usage.
The work will be carried out on weekdays in the afternoon. Please apply by phone to the Living Environment Division. If it is a construction site, please prepare a map of the site.

If you are installing a septic tank in areas where public sewerage is not available, prior notification is required.

Maintenance Management of Sewage Treatment Tanks
The management of septic tanks is mandated by the "Septic Tank Law" to require the following from the administrator. Please cooperate in the maintenance and management of septic tanks to prevent pollution of rivers.
Cleaning (Removal of sludge, etc.)
Cleaning is required at least once a year. Please apply to a "septic tank cleaning contractor" authorized by the city for the cleaning. For those registered with the city, a portion of the cleaning costs will be subsidized (once a year).
Note: Due to the revision of the Consumption Tax Act, a tax rate of 10% will be applied from October 1, 2019.

Maintenance Inspection (Regular Inspection, Adjustment and Repair)
Please undergo maintenance inspections between 2 to 12 times a year, depending on the processing method and the number of personnel involved.
Please request maintenance inspections from a registered business operator.

Legal Inspection (Periodic Inspection)
Please have a regular inspection six months after starting to use it and once a year thereafter. Please request the inspection from the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Public Corporation, Tama Branch. Phone: 042-595-7982
Please be cautious of suspicious vendors
Information has been received about suspicious contractors claiming to have come for inspections at the request of the city. The city has not requested any inspections, so please contact the Environment Department if you have any questions.
Subsidy for the Installation of Merged Treatment Sewage Systems
To prevent the pollution of rivers and waterways caused by domestic wastewater, we provide subsidies for the installation of combined treatment septic tanks that treat both sewage and general wastewater. If you wish to receive the subsidy, please apply for the grant before the start of construction.
Cleaning of Household Wastewater Inlet
We install suction holes for household wastewater and provide subsidies for part of the cleaning costs up to three times a year for registered residents. Please apply for cleaning through a contractor commissioned by the city.
