Inagi City facilities use 100% renewable energy power in practice.

　With the full liberalization of electricity retail in 2016, the city has been procuring electricity for Public Facilities from a comprehensive perspective that includes not only cost but also environmental considerations. In line with the goal of becoming a Zero Carbon City, we have introduced renewable energy electricity starting from the fiscal year 2025. Under the contract from April 2025 to March 2026, we have implemented effectively 100% renewable energy electricity in all Public Facilities (32 facilities) that use high-voltage electricity, including the city hall and Elementary and Junior High Schools.

Renewable Energy Electricity (Renewable Energy Electric)

　This refers to electricity generated by utilizing natural phenomena such as solar, wind, and hydro power. Thermal power generation, which uses fossil fuels like coal and oil, emits a large amount of CO2, a cause of global warming, during the generation process. Electricity generated using renewable energy does not emit CO2 during generation, making it environmentally friendly.

Substantially Renewable Energy Electricity (Substantially Renewable Energy Electricity)

　Electricity generated from thermal power and renewable energy is generally transmitted over the power grid of electric utility companies. Therefore, it is not possible to choose and purchase only the electricity generated from renewable energy. Electricity that comes with a renewable energy certificate, which proves that it is "electricity generated from renewable energy" such as non-fossil certificates, is referred to as effectively renewable energy electricity.
