What is Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB)?

PCB stands for Poly Chlorinated Biphenyl, an artificially created chemical substance that is primarily oily.
PCBs were used in various applications such as insulating oil for electrical equipment, heat transfer fluids for heat exchangers, and non-carbon paper due to their high convenience. However, because of their property of being easily soluble in fats, they have been reported to gradually accumulate in the body due to chronic intake, causing various symptoms. Currently, both the manufacturing and import of PCBs are prohibited, and for PCB-containing products still in use, disposal deadlines have been established, requiring appropriate handling.
For more information about PCBs, please refer to the Ministry of the Environment website.

Proper Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) Waste

For the storage and disposal of PCB waste, please report the storage and disposal status to Tokyo based on the "Special Measures Law for the Proper Treatment of Polychlorinated Biphenyl Waste" and the "Tokyo Guidelines for Proper Management of PCBs".
There is a disposal deadline for PCB waste, and the deadline varies depending on the type of PCB waste. Please check and dispose of it properly.

High Concentration PCB Waste (Stabilizers, Contaminated Materials, etc.) March 31, 2023
Low Concentration PCB Waste March 31, 2027
