Inagi City Welfare Allowance for Patients with Intractable Diseases (Formerly: Inagi City Special Disease Patient Consolation Money)

The Inagi City Welfare Allowance for Patients with Intractable Diseases aims to promote welfare by providing welfare allowances to those afflicted with special diseases.

From October 1, 2026, the "Special Disease Patient Consolation Money" will be changed to the "Intractable Disease Patient Welfare Allowance," and the eligibility requirements will be revised.

Eligible Individuals

Those who meet any of the following conditions

  • Those who have an address in Inagi City.
  • Those who hold a Specific Medical Expenses (Designated Intractable Diseases) Recipient Certificate and have a burden limit amount that is not 0 yen. Or those who hold a Maruto Medical Voucher for the target diseases (Note).

Note: From October 1, 2026, an application will be required when renewing the Specific Medical Expenses (Designated Intractable Diseases) Recipient Certificate.

(Note) The Maruto medical vouchers for the diseases listed below are not eligible for issuance.

  • Kidney failure requiring dialysis
  • Air Pollution Related Diseases
  • Medical Care for Children of Atomic Bomb Survivors
  • Child Psychiatry
  • Pregnancy-induced Hypertension Syndrome, etc.
  • Hepatitis B and C

Payment Restrictions (From October 1, 2026)

Those who fall under any of the following categories are not eligible.

  1. Not actually residing within the city
  2. Income above a certain level
  3. 65 years or older at the time of renewal application for the medical beneficiary certificate, etc.
  4. Admitted to certain facilities

Note: Even if you fall under the above categories, those currently receiving benefits will continue to receive them as a transitional measure until March 2028.

Combined Benefit Restrictions

Those who fall under any of the following categories are not eligible.

  • Individuals receiving Disability Welfare benefits for physical and mental disabilities
  • Those receiving disability allowance under the Child Raising Allowance Ordinance

Amount Granted

Monthly 5,000 yen

Payment Method

The full amount of 20,000 yen for the previous four months will be paid into the account in the recipient's name in the next payment month.
(Payments will start from the month of application. However, there are exceptions such as in cases of moving in.)

  • June (for the period from February to May)
  • October (for the period from June to September)
  • February (for the period from October to January)

Required Documents

Please bring all of the following items and apply at the Disability Welfare Division counter.

  1. Eligible Medical Coupons (Not required for those applying for medical coupons at the same time)
  2. Documents showing the account to which the transfer will be made (in the name of the person)

Note: If a third party is applying on your behalf, please bring the following "Power of Attorney (Disability Welfare Division form)" and identification documents of the representative. A third party refers to a person who does not fall under any of the following categories: the eligible person themselves, the parent or guardian if the eligible person is under 18 years old, or a legal representative.

It is possible to submit by mail enclosing copies of the ID cards of both the delegator and the delegatee)
