Evacuation Together

Accompanied evacuation refers to the act of pet owners safely evacuating to a shelter with their pets during a disaster. The city accepts accompanied evacuation of pets to designated shelters. However, people and pets cannot stay in the same space at the shelter (accompanied evacuation).

Pets that can evacuate together

The pets accepted at the evacuation center are small animals such as dogs and cats that can fit in cages or carrier bags, as well as rabbits.

If a dog has not received a rabies vaccination, it may not be accepted.

About Assistance Dogs

For assistance dogs such as guide dogs, service dogs, and hearing dogs, we will make arrangements to secure individual rooms where assistance dogs can accompany their handlers, while considering other evacuees.

Pet Care at Evacuation Centers

At the evacuation center, please keep pets in cages or similar containers and care for them in designated areas. Additionally, city staff involved in the operation of the evacuation center will not provide assistance regarding pet care. It is the owner's responsibility to take care of their pets.

Daily Preparedness

Pet owners will need to prepare the necessary items for keeping pets in evacuation shelters. Additionally, it is important to consider other evacuees, so it is essential to train and manage the health of pets regularly.
