Seismic Resistance of Wooden Houses
In Japan, where we live, the risk of natural disasters is high, and the country is particularly affected by earthquakes, with major earthquake damage occurring repeatedly across the nation.
Damage has occurred not only to buildings constructed under the old seismic standards but also to some wooden buildings built under the new seismic standards before 2000, as seen in the Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016 and the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in January 2024. According to the National Disaster Prevention Council, the occurrence of Tokai, Tonankai, Nankai earthquakes, and a metropolitan area earthquake is imminent, making it urgent to improve the seismic resistance of buildings with low earthquake resistance.
Under these circumstances, Inagi City supports the promotion of seismic retrofitting for wooden houses through subsidies for seismic diagnosis and repairs. Please consider seismic retrofitting to protect your valuable life and property.
To improve the earthquake resistance of wooden houses, steps such as seismic diagnosis and repairs are necessary.
