Disposal of home appliances subject to the Home Appliance Recycling Law [Air conditioners, TVs, Refrigerators (Freezers), Washing machines, Clothes dryers]
Since April 2009, the Home Appliance Recycling Law (Law for the Recycling of Specified Home Appliances) has been amended. This law mandates manufacturers to ensure a certain level of recycling for the following five items: air conditioners, televisions (including CRTs), refrigerators (including freezers), washing machines, and clothes dryers.
With the enforcement of this law, five items that were sold in the past or became unnecessary at the time of replacement will be collected by home appliance retailers, and the recycling will be carried out by home appliance manufacturers. The costs (collection and transportation fees of the home appliance retailers and fees for remanufacturing by the manufacturers) will be borne by the consumers.
Note:The city cannot process these 5 items.
