In forests where Nara dieback has occurred, it has been confirmed that the highly toxic mushroom, Gymnopilus underwoodii, appears at the time of damage or several years later.
The poisonous mushroom has a very strong toxin, and if accidentally consumed, there is a risk of death.
It is also said that touching the poisonous mushroom can cause inflammation.
Currently, there are no reports of occurrences in the city, but please do not touch it if you find one.
Note: The poisonous mushroom, Gymnopilus underwoodii, is often found near dead trees affected by oak wilt, but its relationship to this phenomenon is not clearly understood at this time.
