Radiation and Radioactive Substances (Updated July 1, 2013)
In response to the accident that occurred at the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, various measurements regarding radiation and other matters are being conducted by various agencies, and we would like to inform you about this.
Regarding the measurement of ambient radiation levels, the national government conducts monitoring measurements by aircraft as well as by vehicles, and the results of these measurements are published. [Please see the link below for the results measured by the national government].
Tokyo has been measuring ambient radiation levels in Shinjuku since before the earthquake, and after the earthquake, monitoring posts have been added in Edogawa, Kodaira, Koto, Ota, Adachi, Hachioji, and Chofu, with measurements starting sequentially.
In addition, we are lending measuring equipment to municipalities and conducting measurements of spatial radiation levels throughout the Tokyo area in 4 kilometer by 4 kilometer blocks. In the city, measurements are conducted at the "Inagi City Central Park Comprehensive Ground," and the results are published. [Please see the link below for the measurement results by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government].
The city is also conducting measurements using a simple radiation measurement device purchased independently, and for your reference, we are publishing the measurement values. [Please see the link below for the measurement results by the city].

Response Status to Radiation and Radioactive Substances
We have created a link to a site that publishes measurement results such as radiation, so please refer to it. We will update it as necessary if there are any changes to the content.
In addition, the national government has established a portal site called "Radiation Monitoring Information" that aggregates links to related pages of relevant ministries, so please make use of it as well.

Radiation-related public relations by relevant ministries
1. "Food and Radiation" (Consumer Affairs Agency)
We have created a "Food and Radiation Q&A" to clearly explain the questions and concerns that consumers may have regarding radiation and food safety. It is structured in an easy-to-understand manner, starting with explanations of the meaning of radiation and more.
Please feel free to use this as a reference.

2. "Pamphlet Addressing Concerns About Radiation for Pregnant Women and Mothers with Young Children" (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare)
We would like to introduce a brochure provided on the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's website, which addresses the concerns that pregnant women and mothers with young children may have regarding the effects of radiation.
Information regarding the safety of water, air, and food has been compiled by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to be communicated to everyone. It is created with the premise of being easily understandable for anyone, incorporating illustrations, and using plain language and simple expressions.
Please feel free to use this as a reference.
