Accidents of children falling from balconies and similar places are occurring.

Recently, there have been numerous accidents in Tokyo and across the country where children have fallen from balconies or windows, resulting in fatalities.
The national government and Tokyo Metropolitan Government have created pamphlets and videos to raise awareness for accident prevention.
Please refer to these and check again to ensure there are no chairs, shelves, or other items on the balcony that children can climb on.

Refer to the materials below to prevent children's falls from windows and balconies.

Child Care Support Type Joint Housing Promotion Project (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism)

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is implementing the "Parenting Support Type Collective Housing Promotion Project," a support initiative targeting collective housing (rental housing and condominium apartments) that contributes to the safety and security of children through accident prevention and crime prevention measures in new construction and renovations, as well as efforts to create connections and interactions among residents that foster opportunities for parents in the parenting phase to interact with each other.
For details, please see the flyer below and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism website.

"Child Protection" Housing Security Promotion Project (Tokyo)

In Tokyo, to enhance the safety of residences for parenting households and promote the creation of environments suitable for parenting, we are implementing a program that subsidizes part of the costs for renovation work aimed at improving the safety of housing units occupied by parenting households in apartment complexes.
Safety measures for balconies, windows, and other areas are also eligible for subsidies.
For more details, please refer to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government website below.
