About My Number Card for Those Moving Abroad
From May 27, 2024, by completing the prescribed procedures, you can continue to use your My Number Card even after moving overseas.
Also, those living overseas who do not have a My Number Card can now apply for a new issuance.
The eligible individuals are as follows.
Note: To continue using the My Number Card issued in Japan after moving overseas, you must complete the overseas continued use procedure at City Hall or a Branch Office by the day before your scheduled moving date. Procedures cannot be done after the scheduled moving date.
Eligible Individuals
The following applies to those who meet all criteria.
- Japanese people
- Those who have already been assigned a My Number (Those who have registered as residents in Japan after October 5, 2015)
Card Printing
- The card for those moving abroad will have "Moving Abroad YYYY/MM/DD (Scheduled Move Date)" written in the address field.
- Cards that were used domestically will have "Overseas Transfer YYYY/MM/DD (Scheduled Transfer Date)" printed in the additional information section after the procedure for continued use abroad.
