Our Town Inagi 2019: Yurika Harashima
Japan's Best in Soft Tennis
Yurika Harashima, a third-year student at Bunka Gakuen University Ogikubo High School, residing in Yanokuchi, participated in the 2018 National High School Comprehensive Sports Festival Inter-High Soft Tennis Women's Individual Competition (from July 30 to August 2, 2018, in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture) and achieved a remarkable victory.
On the day of the tournament, top athletes from across the country gathered, creating a tense atmosphere. However, with a mindset of "cheerful, relaxed, and energetic," they approached the matches. It seems that in the first match, they were nervous and couldn't move their bodies as they wished, but they drew strength from the cheers of many people and focused on "making their voices heard" to advance in the competition.
When asked about the feeling of winning, they said, "I am honestly happy. I want to thank everyone who supports me on a daily basis."
Furthermore, Mr. Harajima participated in the 73rd National Sports Festival "Fukui Shiawase Genki Kokutai" held in October 2018 after winning the Inter-High Championship, and achieved a remarkable victory, shining with the honor of being the best in Japan.
"I have been able to continue playing tennis thanks to my parents, coaches, and teammates. With gratitude in my heart for everyone, I was able to focus on playing with all my strength," he said.
We can't take our eyes off Mr. Harajima's future activities after winning the crown of Japan's best.
