Our Town Inagi 2019: Inagi Dai 6 Junior High School Girls Relay Team
To the National Tournament with Team Strength
Riko Yamako, a third-year student at Inagi Dai 6 Junior High School, participated in the women's 100 meters and 200 meters at the 45th All Japan Junior High School Athletics Championships held last August.
There are various events in track and field, but at Inagi Dai 6 Junior High School, we focus on relay events and have been practicing diligently. In August 2017, our girls' relay team participated in the 44th All Japan Junior High School Track and Field Championships.
When I asked Mr. Takano, the advisor of the track and field club, about the practice, he said, "They have been diligently training regularly. They have overcome the tough schedule before the competition and have grown significantly both as individuals and as a team."
In tournaments where we participate as a team, we encourage each other before the match. We write messages on the knees of the participating players, uniting everyone's thoughts as we start.
During the national tournament where Mr. Yamagoe participated individually, all team members sent messages and united in support.
With high school entrance exams approaching, the third-year students who retired in the summer still hold on to their passion for athletics and their teammates.
The serious expressions during the race and their bright, smiling faces during the interviews suggest that their junior high school lives are very fulfilling.
Finally, when asked about the appeal of athletics, everyone spoke in unison, saying, "A sense of achievement!"
