Part 1 Planning Course "Seeing the Wind Blowing Through the Galaxy: The World Seen by the X-ray Astronomy Satellite XRISM"

We will welcome Mr. Makoto Tashiro, the head of XRISM research and a professor at Saitama University, to give a lecture.

XRISM (pronounced "Krizumu") is the seventh X-ray astronomy satellite from Japan, developed jointly by JAXA, NASA, and ESA, and launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in September 2023. It was developed starting in 2018 with global anticipation as the successor orbital observatory to ASTRO-H (Hitomi), which ended prematurely. What new world of X-ray astronomy will XRISM reveal through its ultra-high-resolution spectroscopy?
Along with the current state of observations, we will also share the challenges faced in launching, such as international joint development during the pandemic.

Part 2: Introduction Event for October Professor Courses

The 35th Term of the "Professor Lecture Series," where everyone can experience "learning is fun" in their community, will start in October. In this event, invited lecturers will come and promote their courses face-to-face. (For absent lecturers, pre-recorded videos will be shown.)
It will also be an opportunity to take courses in new fields, so please be sure to come to the venue.
