About Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in our country. Since there are almost no symptoms in the early stages, let's undergo lung cancer screening for early detection and early treatment.

Inspection Details

From FY2026, you can choose either a CT scan or a chest X-ray for screening.

  CT Scan Chest X-ray Examination
Contents This is a method to detect early-stage lung cancer screening using three-dimensional cross-sectional images. This is a simple and safe primary screening that irradiates the chest with X-rays to examine abnormalities (shadows) in the lungs.
Implementation Method Individual Checkups at Medical Institutions in the City

Group Checkups by Mobile Screening Vehicle (4 times a year)

Self-Payment Amount

4,260 yen (For those with Health Insurance Card co-payment rate of 10%: 1,420 yen, 20%: 2,840 yen)

1,880 yen (For those with Health Insurance Card co-payment rate of 10%: 620 yen, 20%: 1,250 yen)
Implementation Date

From May 11, 2024 to March 15, 2025, excluding medical institution holidays

Flow of Medical Examination

This is the procedure for CT scans (individual checkups) and chest X-ray examinations (group checkups), respectively.

Flow of Examination: 1. Apply for the "Examination Ticket" at the Health Center 2. Receive the "Examination Ticket and Information" from the Health Center 3. Make a direct reservation with each medical institution 4. Undergo the examination

Eligible Individuals

Citizens aged 40 and over (born on or before April 1, 1987)

Notice: The following individuals cannot undergo the examination. Please follow the instructions of the implementing medical institution regarding the decision to receive the health checkup.

  1. Individuals under observation for suspected lung cancer
  2. Individuals undergoing treatment for lung cancer or under observation after surgery
  3. Individuals who undergo regular CT scans for lung diseases
  4. Individuals who may be at risk of pneumonia due to radiation therapy for breast cancer and other conditions
  5. Individuals who have difficulty sleeping on their back or maintaining a posture without movement
  6. Individuals who have difficulty holding their breath for a few seconds
  7. Persons weighing over 200kg
  8. Currently pregnant or those who may be pregnant

Please contact the City Hospital Health Check Center when making your reservation. You may be able to receive an examination under certain conditions.

  1. Individuals with profound hearing loss in both ears
  2. Individuals with implanted medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators
  • Note: If you have any symptoms, we recommend that you receive a medical examination rather than a health check-up.
  • Note: If you have a chronic illness and have a primary care physician, please consult with them in advance about receiving cancer screenings.
  • Note: At the end of the year and the end of the fiscal year, reservations may be crowded, and you may not be able to receive medical examinations.

The deadline is the 22nd of every month, and the examination tickets will be sent out in early the following month.

Please apply for the examination ticket at the Inagi City Health Center using one of the following methods: (1) (2) (3).

The application deadline varies depending on the examination method. Please apply well in advance to ensure your application is completed by the deadline. For details, please check the section above titled "Schedule and Application Period."

Cost

Note: For those with a 10% co-payment on the Health Insurance Card, the amount is 1,420 yen, and for those with a 20% co-payment, the amount is 2,840 yen (presentation of the My Number Health Insurance Card, etc. is required at reception)

In the case of chest X-ray examination in group health screenings

Self-payment: 1,880 yen

Note: For those with a 10% co-payment on the Health Insurance Card, the amount is 620 yen, and for those with a 20% co-payment, the amount is 1,250 yen (presentation of the My Number Health Insurance Card, etc. is required at reception)

Exemptions from Burden Fees

As of the date of examination, those who fall under (1), (2), or (3) will be exempt from the out-of-pocket expenses. Please note that prior procedures are required.

(1) Households receiving Public Assistance
Please obtain a "Public Assistance Certificate" or "Support Benefit Certificate" in advance from the City Hall Livelihood Welfare Division and submit it at the reception on the day of the examination.
(2) Former Japanese Residents in China
Please obtain a "Public Assistance Certificate" or "Support Benefit Certificate" in advance from the City Hall Livelihood Welfare Division and submit it at the reception on the day of the examination.
(3) Households Exempt from Municipal Resident Tax
After applying for the examination ticket and receiving it, please bring the examination ticket and visit the Health Center to receive the "Exemption Certificate for Patient Burden Charges." Please submit the exemption certificate at the reception on the day of the examination.
Note: For those who have recently moved in and have not had a tax decision made in Inagi City, please obtain a "Non-Taxation Certificate" from the municipality you moved from and bring it to the Health Center. For more details, please contact the Health Center.

Note: Common Matters

  • For each type of certificate, one is required for each type of cancer screening.
  • The validity period of various certificates is within 6 months after issuance.
