Illegal Waste Collection Businesses

Recently, flyers stating 'We will collect unwanted items for free' and 'Notice of free collection of home appliances, metals, and industrial products' have been circulating in the Oshitate area of the city.
When requesting disposal from such unwanted item collection companies, there have been reports to various Consumer Affairs Centers stating, "I thought it was free, but after loading it into the car, I was charged a high fee," "I was charged more than double the amount I was initially quoted," and "the items collected by the company were illegally dumped."
Additionally, giving such unwanted items to collection companies may lead to improper recycling, which could result in environmental pollution and illegal dumping both domestically and internationally.
The city provides guidance to illegal collection agencies as necessary, but we also ask residents to dispose of unwanted items from their homes properly in accordance with the city's household waste disposal rules.

Home Appliance Recycling Law Target Appliances

Air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators (freezers), washing machines, and clothes dryers are required to be recycled by the manufacturers.

Computers and computer displays are collected by manufacturers in accordance with the Resource Recycling Promotion Act.

Small electronic devices (mobile phones, digital cameras, game consoles, etc.)

Small electronic devices specified by the city, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and game consoles, can be disposed of for free by dropping them into dedicated collection boxes installed at 11 locations in the city, including City Hall and electronics retailers.
