What is a "Food Drive"?

Poster photo: Let's rethink food waste. NO-FOODLOSS PROJECT

This refers to volunteer activities where surplus food from households and businesses is collected and donated to welfare organizations and facilities.
In Inagi City, we are implementing a "Food Drive" in collaboration with environmental organizations, the Social Welfare Council of Inagi City, and other welfare organizations to reduce food loss (such as food being discarded without being used), promote effective use of food, and support those in need.
The food you provided will be distributed to those in need through the food bank of Yanokuchi Children's Cafeteria, the Social Welfare Council of Inagi City, and the city's Welfare Department.

  • Unopened items
  • Items with a shelf life of more than one month (Note 1)
  • Items with undamaged packaging and exterior

(Note 1) Please be aware of the difference between the expiration date and the consumption date.

The difference between "best before date" and "expiration date"

Expiration Date

Expiration date for delicious consumption.
Foods that can be stored for a long time are often labeled.
Just because the expiration date has passed doesn't mean it can't be eaten right away!
For food that has passed its expiration date, let's assess it individually based on appearance, smell, and other factors.

Expiration Date

The concept of 'safe to eat by date.'
This is often indicated on food products that deteriorate quickly.
It is safer not to eat anything past that.
