About Resetting the PIN for My Number Card (Individual Number Card)

If you forget your PIN or your PIN is locked, the following procedures are required at the My Number Card Center or Branch Office.
Please note that only the PIN for electronic certificates can be processed at convenience stores, etc.

Procedures for smartphone electronic certificates can be done through the Mynaportal app.

PIN Reset at My Number Card Center and Branch Office

At the My Number Card Center and Branch Office, the PIN reset procedure for smartphone electronic certificates cannot be performed.

Required Documents

Personal Application
  1. My Number Card
  2. Identity verification documents A1 point or B1 point (see below for "List of Identity Verification Documents")
Application by Legal Representative (for persons under 15 years old or adult wards)

In addition to the above, the following documents are required.

  1. Identity verification documents of the agent A2 points or A1 point + B1 point (see below for "List of Identity Verification Documents")
  2. If the person is under 15 years old, a copy of the family register (not required if the person and their legal representative are in the same household and the person's registered domicile is within Inagi City) is not required.
  3. Certificate of Registered Matters for Adult Guardianship
Application for Voluntary Agent

Note: In the case of an application by a voluntary agent, the PIN cannot be reset on the same day.

PIN Reset at Convenience Stores, etc.

You can reset the PIN for the Signature Electronic Certificate (6 to 16 alphanumeric characters) and the User Identification Electronic Certificate (4-digit number) at convenience stores, etc. (PIN reset procedures for the smartphone electronic certificate are not available)

Note: To reset the password for the Signature Electronic Certificate, the password for the User Identification Electronic Certificate (4-digit number) is required. If you are unsure, you need to complete the procedure at the My Number Card Center or Branch Office.
Note: To reset the password for the User Identification Electronic Certificate, the password for the Signature Electronic Certificate (6 to 16 alphanumeric characters) is required. If you are unsure, you need to complete the procedure at the My Number Card Center or Branch Office.
Note: The PINs for the Basic Resident Registration and the card surface input assistance cannot be reset at convenience stores, etc. Procedures must be done at the My Number Card Center or Branch Office.

PIN Reset in the Mynaportal App

In the Mynaportal App (smartphone app), you can only proceed with resetting the PIN for the smartphone electronic certificate.

Note: The web version of Mynaportal does not support the procedure for resetting the PIN of the smartphone electronic certificate.

About Changing the PIN for the My Number Card (Individual Number Card)

Those who wish to change the PIN for their My Number Card need to complete the following procedures at a My Number Card Center or Branch Office. It is also possible to complete the procedures at home using a personal computer, etc., by utilizing Mynaportal or the Public Personal Authentication Service.
Note: If you do not know your PIN, please refer to the above "About resetting the PIN for My Number Card."

Procedures for smartphone electronic certificates can be done through the Mynaportal app.

Changing the PIN at the My Number Card Center and Branch Office

At the My Number Card Center and Branch Office, it is not possible to change the PIN for the smartphone electronic certificate.

My Number Card (PIN verification is required)

Application by Legal Representative (for persons under 15 years old or adult wards)

Changing the PIN Using a Personal Computer, etc.

Mynaportal

You can use the My Number Portal to change the PIN of your My Number Card online.
In addition to an internet connection, a PC requires an IC card reader/writer. For details, please refer to the links below.

Note: Changing the PIN for the smartphone electronic certificate is only supported via the My Number Portal app (smartphone app).

Public Personal Authentication Service

By using the Public Personal Authentication Service, you can change the PIN of your My Number Card online. (The PIN reset procedure for the smartphone electronic certificate cannot be performed.)
In addition to an environment with internet access, an IC card reader/writer and user client software are required. For more details, please refer to the link below.

List of Identity Verification Documents

  • Identification documents must be valid and within their expiration date.
  • Identification documents must match the Certificate of Residence with either "name and date of birth" or "name and address".

A government-issued photo ID

  • Driver's License
  • My Number Card (with photo)
  • Passport
  • Disability Certificate
  • Driving History Certificate (limited to those issued on or after April 1, 2012)
  • Residence Card (with photo)
  • Special Permanent Resident Certificate (with photo) etc.

B Identification Documents Without Photo

  • My Number Card (without photo)
  • Health Insurance Eligibility Certificate
  • Long-Term Care Insurance Card
  • Pension Book or Basic Pension Number Notification (including Pension Amount Revision Notice and Pension Payment Notice)
  • Various Pension Certificates
  • Public Assistance Recipient Certificate
  • Various Medical Certificates (Maru Nyuu, Maru Ko, Maru Ao)
  • Maternal and Child Health Handbook
  • Certificate of Birth Registration
  • Residence Card (No Photo)
  • Special Permanent Resident Certificate (No Photo)
  • Student ID (one that includes "name and date of birth" or "name and address")
  • Employee ID (one that includes "name and date of birth" or "name and address") etc.

Note: If you have a public identification document with a photo, it may be possible to verify your identity with just one document (as a supplement to the identity verification documents, confirmation of the IC password, or for those registered as residents in the city, a hearing will be conducted).
