[Important Notice] The Vaccine Used for Vaccination Against Pneumococcal Infection in Older Adults Will Change
According to the policy of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the vaccine used for vaccination against pneumococcal infections in older adults has been changed from FY2024.
Accordingly, please note that the out-of-pocket cost will increase for vaccinations administered on or after April 1, 2024.
The change in vaccine has been implemented based on knowledge regarding the vaccine's effectiveness and other factors. Therefore, higher effectiveness can be expected compared to the conventional vaccine.

About Vaccination for Pneumococcal Infections in Older Adults
Regular vaccinations for pneumococcal infections in Older Adults are being conducted.
Those who wish to be vaccinated should receive the vaccination at designated medical institutions within the city.
Eligible Individuals
Persons registered as residents of Inagi City on the vaccination date who meet either 1 or 2 below and have not previously received a pneumococcal vaccine
- Persons aged 65 (from the day before their 65th birthday to the day before their 66th birthday)
- As of the vaccination date, individuals aged 60 to under 65 who have disabilities in heart, kidney, or respiratory functions (equivalent to Physical Disability Certificate Level 1) and those with disabilities to the extent that daily life is almost impossible due to the human immunodeficiency virus.
Note: Individuals who have already received the pneumococcal vaccine are not eligible.
About Individual Notifications
Individuals turning 65 will receive a personal notification at the end of the month prior to their birth month.
- Note: It will be sent in the month before your birth month, but please be aware that the vaccination date will be after you turn 65 years old.
Vaccination Location
Individual vaccinations will be conducted at designated medical institutions in the city. Please check in advance as some medical institutions may require reservations.
Note: If you wish to receive vaccinations at a medical institution outside the city, you must apply in advance, so please contact the Inagi City Health Center.

Number of vaccinations
One dose will be administered. The 20-valent pneumococcal vaccine will be injected intramuscularly.
Fees
5,500 yen (This is the amount after the reduction of the self-pay portion.)
Limited to vaccinations administered from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Note 1: For the above eligible persons, households receiving Public Assistance must bring a "Public Assistance Recipient Certificate," and former residents of China and others must bring a "Support Benefit Recipient Certificate" to the medical institution to receive full public funding (free of charge).
Note 2: Due to reasons such as changes in the vaccine used, the fee may be subject to change.
Belongings
Health Insurance Card, those who are eligible under the above 2 must have a Physical Disability Certificate or a doctor's diagnosis
Note: The health questionnaire will be enclosed with the individual notification. It is also distributed at the Inagi City Health Center or designated medical institutions.

Considering your health condition and constitution, if you are recognized to fall under any of the following, please consult well with your primary care physician. Also, please check the "Explanation about Vaccination for Pneumococcal Infection in Older Adults" and other related documents.
- Individuals with clear underlying conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, liver diseases, blood disorders, and developmental disorders.
- Those who have experienced fever within 2 days after vaccination and those who have had symptoms suggesting allergies such as systemic rash
- Those with a history of seizures
- Individuals who have been diagnosed with immunodeficiency in the past and those who have close relatives with congenital immunodeficiency
- Those who may have an allergy to the components of the pneumococcal vaccine
