Until now, BCG vaccinations have been conducted through group vaccinations at the Inagi City Health Center, but group vaccinations will be discontinued as of March 2025.

Please receive vaccinations at designated medical institutions in the city after April 2025.

Note: If you have the "BCG Vaccination Pre-examination Form (for Group Vaccination)" on hand, you will need to exchange it for an individual vaccination pre-examination form at a designated medical institution. Additionally, the exchange for the individual vaccination pre-examination form can also be done at the Inagi City Health Center.

For details on eligible recipients and vaccination locations, please check the link below.

Eligible Individuals

The vaccination period is from 5 to 8 months of age until reaching 1 year old (this is the standard vaccination period).

Precautions for Vaccination (Please read the booklet "Vaccination and Children's Health" and understand the vaccinations you will receive before proceeding.)

Children who cannot be vaccinated

  • In case of obvious fever

The city has set a standard of 36.8 degrees Celsius in consultation with the medical association, but for children who have a normal temperature above that, please fill in the temperature from about one week before vaccination on the pre-vaccination questionnaire.

  • In cases where it is clear that one has an acute illness

Note: After being ill, a recovery period may be necessary for the body. Please consult a doctor.

  • If it is clear that you have experienced anaphylaxis due to the components contained in the vaccination solution received on that day
  • If there is not enough time interval after receiving other vaccinations
  • In cases where keloids are recognized due to trauma, etc.
  • If the doctor (the pre-examination physician) determines that the condition is inappropriate based on the medical history, growth status, and physical condition at that time.

To receive vaccinations safely

  • Please keep the vaccination site clean. There is no problem with bathing. Please refrain from intentionally rubbing the vaccination site. Also, on the day of vaccination, please avoid intense exercise.
  • If you have used corticosteroids (including ointments) or immunosuppressants (such as cyclosporine preparations) currently or within the last six months, please be sure to consult your primary care physician before receiving the vaccination. Additionally, if you have applied corticosteroids or moisturizers to the vaccination site on the day of the vaccination, you will not be able to receive it.
  • If you receive this vaccination, you cannot receive vaccinations for live vaccines such as MR and varicella until 27 days (about 4 weeks) have passed.
  • If you experience any unusual reactions after vaccination, please consult your primary care physician and contact the Health Center.

About Koch's phenomenon

If your child has been infected with the tuberculosis bacteria from close contacts such as family members before vaccination, Koch's phenomenon (a series of reactions where redness and swelling occur at the vaccination site, and pus may develop, usually subsiding in 2 to 4 weeks, leading to scarring) may occur within 10 days after vaccination. Unlike the typical timing of reactions at the vaccination site (generally around 10 days), this may manifest in the early days after vaccination. If such reactions are observed, please promptly visit a medical institution.

About Side Effects

The lymph nodes under the armpit on the side where the vaccination was given may occasionally swell. Usually, it is fine to leave it alone and monitor the situation, but sometimes it may become inflamed, swell significantly, or rarely become infected and rupture, releasing pus. In such cases, please consult a doctor.
