If you are enrolled in the National Health Insurance Program of Inagi City and give birth, you will receive a one-time childbirth and childcare allowance of 500,000 yen. Additionally, if you are beyond 12 weeks of pregnancy (85 days), this allowance will also be provided in the case of stillbirth or miscarriage.
Note: The amount for childbirth until March 31, 2023, will be 420,000 yen.

Eligibility Criteria

It is a requirement to be enrolled in the National Health Insurance of Inagi City at the time of childbirth.
However, if a person has been enrolled in social insurance as an insured person for more than one year and gives birth within six months after quitting that insurance, benefits will be provided from the insurance they were enrolled in.

Note: Benefits will not be provided after two years from the day following the birth, so please be aware.

Direct Payment System

Since October 2009, the payment method for childbirth and childcare lump-sum benefits has changed to a system where payments are made directly from the National Health Insurance to medical institutions.
If you do not use the direct payment system for childbirth and childcare lump-sum benefits, or if the childbirth expenses were less than 500,000 yen, you will need to apply for the payment of the childbirth and childcare lump-sum benefits.

If the childbirth expenses exceed 500,000 yen, there is no need to apply for the National Health Insurance. Please pay the difference to the medical institution.

Required Items for Application

  • Either the paper Health Insurance Card of the birthing person, the My Number Health Insurance Card, the qualification confirmation document, or the qualification information notice
  • Confirmation Document Regarding the Direct Payment System for Childbirth and Childcare Allowance
  • Receipt or Invoice for Childbirth Expenses
  • Information on the transfer destination
  • A doctor's certificate that can prove stillbirth or miscarriage

For mail applications, please attach the completed application form and the documents mentioned above.
Please be sure to provide your phone number, as we may contact you regarding any deficiencies in the documents.

Proxy Receipt System

This is a system where insured individuals giving birth can designate a medical institution (limited to those that have been registered and approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) as their payment agent, apply in advance for a childbirth and childcare lump-sum payment, and have the amount of childbirth expenses, up to 500,000 yen, paid directly from the city to the medical institution. An advance application is required within two months before the expected date of delivery.
Medical institutions implementing the proxy receipt system are authorized by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare after reporting to them, with a guideline of having an annual delivery count of 100 cases or less and a ratio of income related to deliveries being 50%.
Please check the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's website for the eligible medical institutions.
