(Inagi Newsletter November 15, 2012 issue)

This year, the intensely hot summer has come to an end, and the autumn of harvest and sports has arrived. From October 19, 2012, the "11th I Town Inagi Citizen Festival" has been held.
In recent years, we have not been blessed with good weather; the event was canceled two years ago due to a typhoon, and last year we had the opening ceremony in pouring rain. However, this year we enjoyed wonderful autumn weather for all three days, and many people came to attend.
This citizen festival has been organized to combine events that were previously held separately in different locations and at different times for each field. Inagi City has grown alongside the development of new towns, but there have been challenges in the interaction between new residents and those in existing areas. Therefore, while maintaining the traditions of the original events, it has been planned to integrate them into a festival where citizens can gather, creating a point of contact for intergenerational, interregional, and cross-industry and cultural exchanges.
This year marks the 11th year. Last year was a milestone year, celebrating both the 10th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the city's establishment. Along with the implementation of various anniversary projects, the original character "Inagi Nashinosuke" was also born. If the past 10 years were a period of creative development, I hope that the next 10 years will be a time of stability and establishment.
Inagi City continues to urbanize while valuing its long-standing communities. I believe that the "I Town Inagi Citizen Festival" is one of the important events to maintain Inagi's treasure, the "community strength," through interaction among people and regions.
I would like to express my gratitude for being able to hold such a large event with the participation of the citizens' executive committee, and I would like to thank the many officials who were involved.
I hope to encounter many smiles again next year.
