No.14 After this year's Town Hall Meeting
(Inagi Newsletter December 15, 2012 issue)
To directly exchange opinions with citizens, Town Hall Meetings were held in all districts of the city again this fiscal year. Starting from the Yanokuchi District on October 9 and continuing until the Nagamine District on November 13, a total of 10 districts held meetings.
At each venue, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, although it was a short time, I explained the main projects for this fiscal year in the first half, and in the second half, participants shared their opinions and questions, allowing for active exchanges of views.
At all venues, we received many opinions regarding familiar local issues, with the most frequent requests being for the repair and improvement of roads and public facilities. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by these situations, and for matters requiring immediate attention, we will address them within the current fiscal year. Other matters will be considered for sequential response from the following fiscal year onward.
Next, many opinions and requests were received regarding disaster prevention in response to last year's Great East Japan Earthquake. We will make efforts to ensure that the projects included in this fiscal year's initial budget are steadily executed within the year, and we will continue to strengthen disaster prevention measures in the coming fiscal years.
Additionally, we received requests for increased frequency and route changes of the i-Bus, as well as opinions regarding the introduction of parking fees. We will consider these comments as reference and proceed with improvements accordingly.
Thank you very much to everyone who participated despite the evening fatigue. For those who could not attend due to scheduling conflicts, we kindly ask you to continue sharing your opinions and suggestions regarding City Administration in the future.
From now through the year-end and New Year period, we will begin the process of drafting next fiscal year's budget. Due to the impact of the dissolution general election, the direction of the national budget remains uncertain, but we will continue to prioritize Community Development focused on safety and security, and work hard to create a solid budget.
