No.57 TBS "National Assembly Talk Frontline" Appearance!
In late May 2016, there was a request for an appearance from TBS Television, and commentator Keiko Kawato and editor-in-chief Kazuo Kurihara visited City Hall.
Initially, when I checked the program content, it was a program on the 24-hour news channel "TBS News Bird," where each episode invites a guest from the National Diet, covering a wide range of topics from the current political situation and policies to the personal hobbies of the lawmakers.
When I asked why I, as the mayor, was requested for such a program, I was told that during the time of national elections, appearances by members of the National Diet are avoided, and the heads of local public organizations are invited as guests.
I see, the first question has been resolved, but I still don't understand why it came to me. When I asked the second question, I was told that this time the theme was focused on the Long-Term Care Insurance system, and while searching for municipalities that are taking advanced initiatives, I was introduced to Inagi as the place to go for care.
If that is the case, it is an honor, and I believe it will also contribute to the city's promotion, so I decided to accept it.
By the way, I have experience with the local CATV, but this is my first time with a key station. I thought there would be considerable preparation and thorough rehearsals in advance, but we just decided on the outline of the questions via email, sent materials from our side, and had them create the flip, and suddenly the recording day arrived.
On the day of the event, I visited the TBS Broadcasting Center in Akasaka, and after passing through a strict security gate, I was guided to a floor that was entirely occupied by the news department and multiple studios, and I was overwhelmed by its size.
I received a brief explanation just before this, and it was mentioned that this program is recorded but in a 'pseudo-live' format, and unless there is a significant time overrun or a need to correct the content of the statements, there will be no retakes or edits. I thought this was quite a situation, but it was already too late.
"If you make a mistake, you can just retake it, so don't worry," I received kind words from Mr. Kawato, but as I entered the open studio and it was time for the actual performance, the director unrelentingly started with, "It's now 1:17 PM, please until 1:45. 3, 2, 1, cue!"
There was no atmosphere to suggest interruptions or retakes, and it felt like we rushed through the full 28 minutes under Mr. Kawato's guidance.
I regret that I may not have conveyed even half of what I was thinking, as it was a dialogue format mixed with improvisation rather than a scripted reading. However, I hope you can forgive me as this was my first experience. The program was broadcast a total of four times from June 24 to 26, 2016, on CS and CATV, and after the broadcast, it can also be viewed on the program's internet site.
While touching on the city's specialty products, Inagi Nashinosuke, and tourism promotion bases, I was able to discuss the nursing care support volunteer system, the establishment of a community-based integrated care system, and the Inagi City Medical Plan, which provided me with a meaningful experience.
Inagi City is currently a very young town, but it has a large proportion of new town development, and it is estimated that aging will progress rapidly at a certain point in time. In preparation for the 2025 problem, when the baby boomer generation will turn 75, we will work on building a system that can provide care, medical services, lifestyle consultation, and preventive care in a one-stop manner, with the cooperation of relevant parties.
