QuestionPlease tell me about the name change procedure for National Pension subscribers and beneficiaries.

Response

Category 1 Insured Person

If your name changes due to marriage or other reasons, you need to complete the name change procedure at the Citizen Affairs Division. No procedures are required at the Insurance and Pension Division.
Note: Please notify your workplace or your spouse's workplace of any name changes for Type 2 and Type 3 insured persons.

Pension Beneficiary

Those who have their My Number registered with the Japan Pension Service do not need to complete any procedures.
However, those whose My Number is not registered with the Japan Pension Service are required to submit the "Pension Beneficiary Name Change Notification."
We will issue a new Pension certificate after the name change, so please attach and submit all of your current Pension certificates.
Also, please complete the name change procedure with the financial institution where you receive your Pension.
Please note that if you are receiving a survivor's Pension and your name change is due to marriage or adoption, you will lose the right to receive the survivor's Pension.
For more details, please check the Japan Pension Service Website or the Fuchu Pension Office.

Note: You can check the registration status of your My Number on Pension Net.
