QuestionPlease tell me about the National Pension death lump-sum payment.

Response

If a person who has paid contributions for 36 months or more as a Type 1 insured person (including months counted as partially exempt) dies without receiving either the old-age basic Pension or the disability basic Pension, and their surviving family members are unable to receive the survivor's basic Pension, a payment will be made to the surviving family members who were living together with the deceased.

Eligible Survivors and Order of Priority

  1. Spouse
  2. Child
  3. Parents
  4. Grandchild
  5. Grandparents
  6. Siblings

Necessary Items

  1. Family Register
    • If the applicant is in the same family register as the deceased
      Copy of the applicant's family register (after the date of death, showing the relationship to the deceased)
    • If the applicant is in a different family register from the deceased
      Combination of the "applicant's family register" and the "deceased's family register" (documents issued after the date of death, showing the relationship between the two)
  2. Certificate of Residence of the applicant (must be issued after the date of death, containing information on the applicant and all household members, and must include "registered domicile," "head of household," "relationship," and "changes")
  3. Certificate of Residence removal for deceased persons (issued after the date of death, including registered domicile and relationship)
  4. Application for Co-habitation Relationship (When the claimant is in a different household from the deceased)
  5. Depositor's Savings Passbook
  6. Notification of Basic Pension Number for Deceased Persons and Pension Handbook
  7. Identity verification documents of the applicant (My Number Card, driver's license, etc.)

Note: If the applicant is the spouse of the deceased, by entering the applicant's My Number, items 1, 2, and 3 can be omitted.

Note: If the applicant is not the spouse of the deceased, the applicant can omit 2 and 3 by entering their My Number.
