QuestionPlease tell me about the childbirth and childcare lump-sum payment under the National Health Insurance.

Response

This is a cash benefit provided to insured individuals to reduce the financial burden of childbirth expenses.
When you give birth, 500,000 yen will be provided for each child. If you are 12 weeks (85 days) pregnant or later, it will be provided even in the case of stillbirth or miscarriage.
Note: The amount for childbirth until March 31, 2023, will be 420,000 yen.

The childbirth and childcare lump-sum payment is, in principle, paid directly from the National Health Insurance to medical institutions, which reduces the out-of-pocket expenses at the time of service. (Direct payment system)
Please check the "National Health Insurance" page for the necessary items for the procedure.
