QuestionIs the high-cost medical care system applicable to childbirth expenses?

Response

The high-cost medical expense system does not apply in the case of a normal delivery that is not covered by insurance.
In cases where expensive insurance treatments such as cesarean sections are required, the High-Cost Medical Expense System will apply.
In that case, we recommend preparing the "Certificate of Eligibility for Maximum Amount (or Certificate of Eligibility for Maximum Amount and Standard Burden Reduction)" in advance.
If prepared, please bring your Health Insurance Card and personal seal to the Insurance and Pension Division or Branch Office to complete the procedure (if there are any unpaid insurance taxes, the procedure may not be possible). If you complete the procedure at the Insurance and Pension Division, it can be issued on the same day, but if you complete the procedure at the Branch Office, it will be mailed to you later.
