QuestionIs the high-cost medical care system applicable to childbirth expenses?
Response
The high-cost medical expense system does not apply in the case of a normal delivery that is not covered by insurance.
In cases where expensive insurance treatments such as cesarean sections are required, the High-Cost Medical Expense System will apply.
In such cases, we recommend preparing your My Number Health Insurance Card or a Certificate of Application of the Maximum Amount (or a Certificate of Application of the Maximum Amount and Reduction of Standard Burden Amount) in advance.
If you need a Certificate of Application of the Maximum Amount or a Certificate of Application of the Maximum Amount and Reduction of Standard Burden Amount, please bring your qualification confirmation document and complete the procedure at the Insurance and Pension Division or a Branch Office (if there are unpaid insurance taxes, you may not be able to complete the procedure). If you complete the procedure at the Insurance and Pension Division, you can receive the certificate on the same day, but if you complete it at a Branch Office, it will be mailed to you later.
